Period hazel morocco leather. Triple gold ornamental bar on the covers. Spine with ribs, embossing, and red label.
First French edition, originally printed in German in 1766. Text by Gleichen-Russworm, and paintings and engravings by Keller.
Gleichen, a German naturalist, studied under the microscope the structure, composition and particularities of the common fly.
Good copy. Very clean, with a beautiful binding and careful period illumination.
Nissen, ZBI, 1592; Percheron, Bibliographie entomologique, page 202. It is the work of extreme rarity. There is no record of a copy for sale in recent years.
