Buddhist Nichiren School altar consisting of two Buddha figures seated in a posture of prayer atop a stylised lotus elevated throne, each backed by a mandorla finely carved with wave-like clouds, framing a sutra stele in the form of a pagoda bearing an inscription, also backed by a mandorla. The group is resting on an elaborate raised rectangular base, finely carved with floral and geometric designs. The Buddha figures are wearing monk's robes, their serene faces are reflecting a profound inner serenity. Height: 23.6 cm. Abrasion due to age, otherwise good condition.
