Coffee table - Bronze, Marquetry of various wood - Napoleon III Style Table
Napoleon III style table, floral marquetry and bronze, 20th century – France
Extraordinary and exquisite table designed in Louis XV style.
It is made of walnut, lupia and fruit wood, and is enriched with wonderful gilded bronze fittings that emphasize its entire structure. It is configured with a sinuous profile top, supported by four galvanized legs with bronze latches that show exceptional skill in both carving and gilding.
The table top features an intricate decoration using the marquetry technique. On the central medal there are delicate flowers of different colours, which radiate across the field through scrolls and rocailles, great care in the fine strokes inlaid on backgrounds of different veneers arranged according to the grain. In addition, a perimeter in lupia wood finishes giving light and colour to the composition.
As already mentioned, it is embellished with fine details made of gilded bronze: a beautiful bronze ingot outlines the entire top and the waist of the table displays a bronze mask framed in scrolls. It remains in good condition for its age and use. A great piece, of artisanal and elegant beauty, which will make any space a unique and refined environment.
