Antique Simplex Library Step Ladder circa 1900 With very nice cast iron hinges and iron cross braces and it has a rare locking metal support that is stamped "Self Acting Stop Patented No 6956". It is In fantastic condition more stable than any modern ladder !! Highly attractive and functional Simplex Step Ladders were manufactured by Taylor and Wilson of Clayton, near Accrington Lancashire, a company that was formed in 1866.  The company finally closed the doors of their Royal Mill, in Atlas Street in 1962  When not is use Simplex ladders will stand upright against a wall The steps have been tested , waxed and the few old wood worm holes have been treaded !! It is strong, of beautiful design and very much useable. ! Closed only 15 cm deep
