Jonone (1963) - Aqua (very large size)

Jonone (1963) - Aqua (very large size)

Work by Jonone, Acrylic painting and posca on rare large canvas. Work created in 2018, in his studio in Roubaix, France. The painting is framed in a black American box and is accompanied by the exhibition book signed by the artist during which the work was purchased.

JonOne, whose real name is John Andrew Perello, was born in 1963 in Harlem, New York. Of Dominican descent, he grew up in a difficult environment, marked by family and school problems. Originally from the Harlem neighborhood of New York, Jon quickly tagged his name on the city's streets in the late 1970s. For the record, he initially tagged "Jon loves Rosanna" before his girlfriend at the time left him and he only wrote the diminutive form of his name "Jon". In 1984, at the age of 19, he founded the graffiti artist group 156 All Starz with Rac7 and Kyle. He was later joined by other artists such as A-One and André, Psyckoze. The group is also named after the street on which it was founded, 156th Street. In 1987, he moved to Paris at the invitation of the artist Bando, where he continued to develop his art and became a major figure in the Parisian art scene. His career has been marked by constant evolution, moving from the streets of Harlem to the prestigious galleries of Paris, while maintaining the raw energy and authenticity of his beginnings.
