Fossil - Fossil matrix - Mixosaurus - 63 cm - 38.5 cm (No Reserve Price)

No reserve price! The Mixosaurus is a kind of ichthyosaur. The fossil appear three-dimensional, and many parts can be preserved, which like teeth are also very three-dimensional, lifelike feeling. This fossil has been cleaned very beautifully, and the bones are very distinct from the matrix. Its limbs and gastralia are very complete, which is very rare. This is a whole ichthyosaur! The size of the fossil is 85 cm. Matrix is about 63*38.5*2.3 cm. This offers DHL shipping. Mixosaurus was a small to medium-sized ichthyosaur, not growing more than 2 metres (6.6 ft) in total length with small species not growing more than 1 metre (3.3 ft). It possessed a long tail with a low fin, suggesting it could have been a slow swimmer, but also possessed a dorsal fin for stability in the water. The paddle-like limbs were made up of five toes each, unlike the three toes found in later Ichthyosaurs.
