Table/desk clock - Solari & C., Udine Space Age - Acrylic - 1960-1970 - Cifre 3 Synchron Flip Clock

Gino Valle, Solari & C., Udine, "Cifra 3", włoska ikona designu z końca lat 60-tych, zegar typu „flip clock”. Doskonała synteza technologii i kreatywności, designu i mocy komunikacyjnej. Zegar wymaga naprawy. Mechanizm „przerzucania” klapek działa bez zarzutu, środek zegara jest czysty. Wymiary: 17,8 cm x 9,2 cm x 10 cm (wysokość), długość kabla 185 cm. Dane z tabliczki znamionowej producenta: „Solari & c./udine made in italy patent: 723779-110121 mod. cifra 3 synchron V. 220-240 Hz 50 serial nº 212320”

Table/desk clock - Solari & C., Udine Space Age - Acrylic - 1960-1970 - Cifre 3 Synchron Flip Clock

Gino Valle, Solari & C., Udine, "Cifra 3", an Italian design icon from the late 1960s, is a "flip clock". It is a perfect synthesis of technology and creativity, design and communicative power. The "Cifra 3" has been Solari's stylistic hallmark for over fifty years. Designed by Gino Valle in the late sixties, it is recognized as a design icon of the 20th century worldwide and is part of the permanent collections of MoMA (Museum of Modern Art) in New York and the Science Museum in London. Currently, the "Cifra 3" is a direct-read clock that is still in production, equipped with a flap system created by Remigio Solari and patented in the 1960s. My clock dates from the turn of the 60s and 70s. Visually, it looks quite good (the upper left part of the plastic is yellowed, the power cable was joined). Functionally, it is non-operational. I do not know what the cause is. The clock needs repair. The "flipping" mechanism works smoothly, and the center of the clock is clean. Dimensions: 17.8 cm x 9.2 cm x 10 cm (height), cable length 185 cm.
