Magnifique biface authentique du paléolithique inférieur, acheuléen en silex. Trouvée dans le département de la Charente-maritime (17) en France. Biface avec une magnifique patine fluviale et multicolore très luisante. Base avec reste de cortex au niveau de la partie préhensible. Pièce rare et recherchée pour cette patine lustrée et colorée. Trouvée à Saint James (annotée) à côté de port d'Envaux connu pour les très beaux bifaces de gravières qui y ont été trouvés au début du siècle. Longueur 14,9 cm. Largueur max : 8 cm Epaisseur max : 5 cm Poids : 610 gr Provenance : France, Charente Maritime. Lot provient d'une collection privée ancienne d'un ancien carrier ayant travaillé dans les carrières de Charente et Charente Maritime durant la première moitié du XX ème siècle. Magnificent authentic biface from the Lower Paleolithic, Acheulean in flint.
Found in the Charente-Maritime department (17) in France.
Biface with a magnificent glossy multicolored riverine patina.

Base with remaining cortex at the level of the prehensile part.
Rare and sought-after piece with a polished and colorful patina.

Found in Saint James (annotated) near the port of Envaux, known for the very beautiful sandstone tools that were found there at the beginning of the century.

Provenance: France, Charente Maritime.
The lot comes from an old private collection of a former quarry worker who worked in the quarries of Charente and Charente-Maritime during the first half of the 20th century.
