A Little Piece of History!
Bicycle lighting has existed since the end of the 19th century.
Here we have a carbide lamp from Herm Riemann.
Light was created by the combustion of acetylene gas, which was produced in the lamp from calcium carbide and water.
Hermann Riemann founded the company in 1866 and has been producing bicycle lamps since 1888.
Since 1894, this took place in the newly built factory building in Chemnitz-Gablenz.
This patinated carbide lamp is in very good condition for its age.
Here and there a dent and/or scratch.
See the photos for this.
The carbide lamp is well packaged and shipped via PostNL.
