Fossil - Fossil matrix - Large Rare Marine Fossil Bed (No Reserve Price)
A Museum and research grade specimen, full of different types of fossils inside this marine fossilised bed. We are the first ones to see this fossil bed out the ground for millions of years.
Only light cleaning, no other preparation done, kept as is because it has a scientific value to it, truly for research and museums for studying. It can also be displayed. There are many layers of fossils even within the matrix. This fossil matrix is from Pakistans salt range, the color of reds with greys and brown give this fossil matrix a beautiful decorative look also. The fossil is from the Permian period (298.9-251.9 million years ago) which is one of the many reason this fossil matrix is rare and fascinating, because the Permian age was the extinction age of these fossils, 96% fossils got lost so having this quality of fossil preserved in a bed especially from Pakistan is something of true scientific importance especially due to tectonics and other natural factors.
The most significant mass extinction event in Earth's history, which had a profound impact on many fossil species, occurred at the end of the Permian Period, about 252 million years ago. This event is known as the Permian-Triassic extinction event or the "Great Dying".
The weight is also very large, 2.726kg
How this fossil matrix was acquired - After planning and locating potential fossil sites through systematic geological prospecting, many hours of trekking and very rough terrain , more than 10 hours drive then 1-2 hours walking through harsh remote dangerous terrain we finally found this rare fossil bed, truly a museum and research specimen. The end photos you can see the exact fossil bed and area where our team has found this fossil. The fossil was ethically taken with full permission from the land owner, we pride ourselves on ethical mining and prospecting.
Amb, Wargal formation.
Photos have been taken using natural and led lighting, no filters or editing of photos have been done, colors may vary depending on your screen, photos have been taken with the specimen wet, the fossil will arrive dry as to preserve the original condition it was found, if you wish you may add mineral oil to give it sparkle for display or keep dry for collection.
