Soholm - Einar Johansen - Table lamp - Model no. 1092 - Faience, Stoneware
Vintage Danish table lamp produced on the island of Bornholm by the manufacturer Søholm, and the design is by designer Einar Johansen.
The lamp with blue rectangles is in a beautiful blue color that stands out and illuminates on both sides. A blue color that evokes the sea with its bubbles. Made in the mid-century period.
Søholm was founded in 1835 by Edvard Christian Sonne and Herman Sonne Wolffsen on the small Danish island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea, northeast of mainland Denmark.
Bornholm is known for its tradition of pottery and ceramics. Over the years, there have been many owners, but in recent years, Søholm was owned by a trade union.
Søholm managed to survive for as many as 161 years and closed its doors permanently in 1996.
In the 20th century, Søholm became one of the largest and longest-established pottery factories in Denmark, and its ceramics are highly sought after by collectors. From the 1960s to the present, most of the ceramics consisted of stoneware, which contributed to their durability. Especially the design of their mid-century ceramics has proven to be timeless and remains very popular. This piece has an attribution mark underneath the lamp base. The manufacturer's details, the designer's mark, and the model number are etched onto the base.
The lamp is fitted with a European plug (up to 250 V) and is originally wired with a plug.
Dimensions: H 35 cm x W 12 cm x D 10 cm
