Huge Neolithic Flint Core from the Grand Pressigny Typology : Splendid specimen of a Long Blade Core or "Livre de Beurre". Material : Flint. The famous local Flintstone was formed during the Turonian period, upper Cretaceus, circa 93.5 to 89 million years. Cutting : This unique shape, typical of the Grand-Pressigny area, was specially created to make the longest possible blades. The core shows the classical alternate flaking scars along the sides, which prepared the piece for the cutting of the blades. It is a rare core, cut on both faces that display long blade marks. Dating, hominid : This implement belongs to the Late Neolithic or Chalcolithique Culture , (circa 5 000 years ago), and was conceived by Homo Sapiens Sapiens. Origin : Found in the reknown area of the Grand-Pressigny, in the center of France. Sizes : 26.5 cm / 9 cm / 7.5 cm Weight : 1461 gr Acquired in 2016 from Mr. M. private collector, collected since the 70's.
