Conch Sea shell - Charonia tritonis
Impressionnant coquillage de grande taille appartenant à l'espèce Charonia tritonis, plus communément appelée Triton géant. Ce gastéropode marin, l’un des plus grands au monde, se distingue par sa forme spiralée allongée, sa surface finement striée, et son motif ondulé brun et crème évoquant des flammes ou des écailles.
L’intérieur de la coquille présente un nacré orangé profond, aux reflets chauds et satinés, accentuant la richesse de la matière naturelle.
Originaire des eaux tropicales de l’océan Indien et Pacifique, le Triton géant est célèbre non seulement pour sa taille, mais aussi pour son rôle écologique : il est un prédateur naturel des étoiles de mer, notamment la couronne d'épines.

Impressive large shell belonging to the species Charonia tritonis, commonly called the giant Triton. This marine gastropod, one of the largest in the world, is characterized by its elongated spiral shape, finely striated surface, and wavy brown and cream pattern reminiscent of flames or scales.
The inside of the shell has a deep orange nacre, with warm, satin reflections, accentuating the richness of the natural material.
Originally from the tropical waters of the Indian and Pacific Oceans, the giant triton is renowned not only for its size but also for its ecological role: it is a natural predator of starfish, notably the crown-of-thorns.
