Lange bifaciaal bewerkte bijl gemaakt uit de lokale vuursteen van Spiennes in België. Typisch voor de Midden neolithische Michelsberg cultuur. Mooi wit gepatineerd met enkele recente breuken die de originele zwarte kleur van de vuursteen vertonen. Het site van Spiennes in de buurt van Mons is werelberoemd om zijn groot aantal silexmijnen en is een van de grootste exploitaties van silex in Europa. Het moderne lokale museum is een bezoek zeker waard. Long bifacially worked axe made from the local flint of Spiennes in Belgium. Typical of the Middle Neolithic Michelsberg culture.
Beautifully white patinated with some recent cracks that show the original black color of the flint. The site of Spiennes near Mons is world-famous for its numerous flint mines and is one of the largest flint exploitations in Europe. The modern local museum is definitely worth a visit.
