Sectioned Chambered Nautilus - Sea shell - Nautilus pompilius (with Import Ref.) (No Reserve Price)

Beautiful example of a Nautilus shell, precisely sectioned to reveal its elegant internal spiral structure, perfectly aligned with the golden ratio. The outer surface has been polished to highlight the stunning iridescence of the mother-of-pearl, shimmering with subtle, changing hues. Some of the inner chambers show breakage, as seen in the photos, due to the shell's natural fragility. However, this does not take away from the charm and rarity of the piece, which remains a highly decorative and fascinating object. The two halves measure approximately 11.6 × 8.7 × 3 cm and 11.4 × 8.6 × 2.8 cm. Total weight without the plastic stands is 50 grams. import 00000119E of 03/01/2012 Attention bidders from outside EU: This lot requires specific cites custom clearance procedures to be shipped outside Italy and then imported in your Country.
