Descripción del vendedor
This distinguished tableware set is an exceptional collector's item that stands out for its aesthetic coherence despite its mixed origins. It unites avant-garde Central European design with renowned Spanish silversmithing, creating a unique combination of functionality and historical elegance.
-Period: c. 1920-1940
-Style: The coffee and tea service (pieces with handles) belongs to the German Art Deco period. Its geometric design, truncated conical shapes, and the use of carved hardwood in the handles are unmistakable features of the Bauhaus school's influence.
-Origin: Teapots Attributed WMF Germany; Tray- Alpadur Spain;
*A high-end mixed set where the German designer teapot service is complemented by a tray manufactured in Spain by the prestigious firm Alpadur.
-Material: High-quality silver-plated alpaca with natural wood elements.
-Technique: Polished metalwork.
-Marks:
*Tray stamped with the "Alpadur" mark.
*Service attributed to WMF, with an undecipherable stylized maker's mark on the base. (Especially German manufacturers of the period, such as WMF or Wellner, used highly stylized logos that are often mistaken for abstract signatures.)
*Candelsticks without a visible mark, integrated by design.
Measurements:
*Tray: 1.2 cm high x 48 cm long x 29 cm wide
*Large Coffee Pot: 24 cm high
*Medium Coffee Pot: 19 cm high
*Teapot: 19 cm high
*Sugar Bowl: 12 cm high
*Candlesticks (Pair): 20 cm high
More measurements in the photos
-Condition:
*Tray: In good overall condition, although it shows signs of use consistent with its age, including visible surface scratches and some small dents that do not compromise its functionality.
*Serving Set: In very good condition. The silver plating retains a bright shine, and the wooden pieces are sturdy and well-preserved. *Candlesticks: Solid construction with protective felt on the base (one of them shows wear on the felt).
This lot represents an excellent opportunity to acquire a set with the character of 20th-century German industrial design, ideal for period decor or use at exclusive events.
