- Tamara de Lempicka (1898–1980) was one of the most iconic painters of the Art Deco movement and a defining figure of interwar modernity. Born in Poland and later active in Paris, she developed a highly distinctive style that merged neoclassical precision with Cubist structure and sensual elegance. Her work is characterized by polished surfaces, sculptural volumes, sharp geometry, and glamorous, often aristocratic sitters, reflecting the luxury and confidence of the 1920s and 1930s.

Lempicka became the portraitist of choice for the European elite, portraying bankers, nobility, artists, and socialites with a cool, stylized intensity. Her art embodies themes of power, sophistication, eroticism, and modern identity, making her one of the most recognizable female artists of the 20th century.
