Muhammad ibn Sulayman al-Jazuli - Dala'il al-Khayrat Payers - India - 1778

A gold sprinkled bi-folio from al-Jazuli's Dala'il al-Khayrat (Indian Book of Prayers), one of the most popular devotional payer books of Islam. Written in nasta'liq, with Persian commentary in red between the lines of script, it consists of two leafs of 9 lines of scripture, with a 'Surah' in gold leaf as line 4 of the right folio. Both scriptures are framed by multi-linear marking in various colours, outside of which is a generous floral border of repeated patterns with a single frame line to complete the folios. The scripture is folded within gold clouds, with a single aya in gold in line 3 of the left folio and two aya on the right folio in lines 3 and 9. This is a pleasing bi-folio over 250 years old. It is hinged verso with photographic hinges and with archival paper repair tape keeping the sides steady. These can be easily removed for reframing/mounting as required. Please note that shipping costs are not solely the cost of the postal delivery service itself. Included within the shipping price is the work undertaken to prepare the article, for photography, for uploading to Catawiki, for preparation and packaging the article securely and for transporting the article to the postal delivery agent for processing. Also, please consider when bidding on this lot that this artwork is shipped from the UK. Import duties will now have to be paid by the recipient to the Postal Service when the parcel arrives in your country. This will likely vary between 5% and 20% of the sale price depending on your country's Import Rate, so please check this if you are concerned. This is a Tax collected on behalf of your Government and is not an additional fee charged by us.
