S. Edwards - Original Engravings with Superb Antique Watercolouring on Botany [Set of 6] - 1789-1790
Superb set of beautifully executed and hand colored plates on fine paper after drawings by S. Edwards (1768–1819).
The condition of these prints is very good. There is no foxing, no tears, no damages of loss. On white paper, that is in pristine conditions. Only a very light offsetting of text to some plates.
Still fresh '700 superb watercolour. These prints are more than 230 years old.
Edwards’ lovely illustrations were engraved by the master engraver F. Sansom, translating them for the printing process. The color plates have strong color and include several images per plate set in artistic manner. This is the first appearance of Edwards' illustrations.
Water-colour drawings by Edwards are in private collections as in the National Museum of Wales, the National Library of Wales, the British Museum, and the South Kensington Museum.
