Bartsch XVII.222.36 Raffaello Schiaminossi ( 1572 - 1622) Painter and etcher from Borgo San Sepolcro. Recorded Florence 1596, when member of the Accademia del Disegno (Giannotti, 1988). His great friend Teofilo Torri recorded his death on 17 June 1622 and wrote a brief obituary: 'homo molto spirituale et spiritoso tanto nel dipingere come nel intaglio d'acquaforte si come si vede de sue molte carte...' (Giannotti, 1988). In his will of 24 March 1615, he left to G.B. Mercati, among other things, his uncut copper plates and 'tutte le carte di stampa in libri e fogli sciolti, che non si ritroveranno pero attacchate per casa di esso testatore'. The will reveals that he owned wood blocks. Earliest dated print 1595, a copy of Ventura Salimbeni. The Vaccari stock list of 1614 mentions a 'Roma moderna, intagliata da Raffaello Schiaminozzi pittore'. (Ehrle). Plates published by Orlandi, Van Aelst, Stefanoni.
