Item Description: This is an elegant Kyo-yaki (Kyoto ware) porcelain flower vase by celebrated Japanese ceramic artist Masafumi Fujihira (藤平正文). The vase features a full, rounded form with a narrow mouth and is beautifully adorned with hand-painted motifs of green and gold bamboo leaves (竹文). The gold embellishments are applied using the traditional kinsai (金彩, gold decoration) technique, showcasing the refined aesthetic and craftsmanship typical of Kyo-yaki. The soft ivory base glaze is delicately crackled (kan'nyū), adding depth and character. This piece comes with its original signed wooden tomobako (storage box) and includes a certificate detailing the artist’s career and accomplishments. The base bears the signature and seal of the artist, attesting to its authenticity and collectible value. He received many honors, such as the Minister of International Trade and Industry Award (1955) and the Kyoto Prefecture Governor's Prize. His works have been presented to members of the Japanese imperial family, including Prince and Princess Takamatsu and Princess Chichibu.
