Hieno pari Sosaku Kokeshi -nukkeja Usaburo Kokeshilta: syksyn vaahtera ja kultainen vehnä - Puu - Japani - Shōwa period (1926-1989)

**Item Description** - This lot features a beautiful pair of *Sōsaku Kokeshi* (Creative Kokeshi) dolls from the renowned Usaburo Kokeshi workshop, both themed around the season of **Autumn**. Both pieces showcase the workshop's signature technique of deeply carved, three-dimensional designs, allowing the wood grain and carved details to emerge with elegant simplicity. The limited use of paint highlights the sophistication of the sculptural work. * **Larger Kokeshi (Maple Motif):** This doll features a rich, dark brown body with deeply carved and exposed wood grain, accented by red-tinted, stylized maple leaves. The contrast between the dark stain and the reddish-brown wood grain emphasizes the vibrant, autumnal theme. * **Smaller Kokeshi (Wheat Motif - "Maishu"):** This doll, attributed to the founder, Usaburo Okamoto, is titled "Maishu" (Golden Wheat). Its dark body is beautifully adorned with intricate carvings of ripe wheat stalks, which are subtly colored to suggest a harvest of golden grain. The precision of the carving is a testament to the artist's skill. Both dolls are characterized by their simple, stylish bangs and smooth, rounded heads. The condition of both dolls is **very good** with minor signs of age and handling appropriate for vintage pieces (e.g., small scuffs or flecks in the finish, as visible in the detailed photos). The underside of both dolls features a clear red seal, which likely serves as a mark of the artist or the workshop. **Artist** - **Usaburo Kokeshi Workshop & Usaburo Okamoto (Okamoto Usaburo)** The Usaburo Kokeshi Workshop is Japan's most famous and leading studio for *Sōsaku Kokeshi*. It was founded in 1979 by the highly influential Kokeshi craftsman, **Okamoto Usaburo (初代 岡本卯三郎, 1917-2009)**. Usaburo revolutionized Kokeshi by moving beyond the traditional brush-painted designs (*dentō kokeshi*), pioneering an expressive, three-dimensional style incorporating deep **carving and pyrography** (burned-in designs). His innovations are the foundation of the Usaburo style today. His representative work, "Kantsubaki" (Winter Camellia), was purchased by Emperor Showa. He was recognized as a recipient of the Minister of International Trade and Industry Award. The workshop he established balances traditional handcrafting with modern production techniques. Currently, the studio features six artists, including two who have received the prestigious Prime Minister's Award, carrying on his legacy of creative and sculptural Kokeshi art. **Size & Weight** - * **Larger Kokeshi (Maple):** Approx. Height 20 cm x Width 10 cm x Depth 10 cm. Weight: 538 g. * **Smaller Kokeshi (Wheat):** Approx. Height 17 cm x Width 8.5 cm x Depth 8.5 cm. Weight: 240 g. **Keyword for search** - Japanese Folk Art / Collectible Doll / Sosaku Kokeshi / Wood Carving / Showa Period / Vintage Kokeshi / Japan / Usaburo Good condition. While overall in good condition considering their age, they may show slight signs of wear and minor dirt. Please refer to the photos for a closer look. NOITICE The lot will be carefully packaged and sent by Japan Post, DHL or FedEx, depending on the situation. It takes about 3 weeks to receive normally.
