Sudo no Tori (巣の鳥) - Seisei Fuji (富士正晴,1913-1987) - Japani (Ei pohjahintaa)

Work Title: Sudo no Tori (巣の鳥) Artist: Seisei Fuji (富士正晴,1913-1987) Technique Type: Woodblock Print Signature & Seal: The lower right corner of the print bears the artist’s pencil signature and sealEdition Number: Pencil-numbered by the artist as 200/51, limited edition Paper Size: 15.5 × 24 cm (6.1 × 9.4 in) Mount Board Size: 34 × 50.5 cm (13.4 × 19.9 in) Paper Material: Washi (和紙) This exquisite woodblock print was created around the 1970s by Seisei Fuji (富士正晴), an artist of Japan’s modern printmaking scene. The work employs stippling techniques to render the texture of the "bird’s nest", exuding a natural and understated visual appeal. It not only carries forward the inscription tradition of Japanese Bunjinga (文人画)—featuring handwritten title, signature and seal—but also incorporates the limited-edition marking of modern printmaking. As a quintessential piece of contemporary Wafū-hanga (和风版画), the artist’s signature and seal can be seen in the lower right corner. Due to the passage of time, the paper has developed signs of oxidation yellowing and creases, yet the overall condition remains good. Seisei Fuji was a versatile figure who excelled as a novelist, poet and calligraphy-painting artist. In his early years, he founded the poetry journal Sanjin (三人) and studied under the poet Shotaro Takeuchi. He was conscripted to serve in China during the war years, and after the war, he co-founded the literary journal VIKING with Toshio Shimao and others. His representative works include Katsura Shundai (桂春団治), among others, earning him prestigious awards such as the Mainichi Publication Culture Award (毎日出版文化賞) and the Osaka Art Award (大阪芸術賞). His calligraphy and painting works are imbued with literati elegance, often taking natural small scenes like flowers, birds and utensils as themes. After his passing, the Seisei Fuji Memorial Hall (富士正晴記念館) was established in Ibaraki-shi, and a literary award named after him was founded in his hometown. - The picture is part of the description. The color of the item may be slightly different from the picture (due to camera and screen settings). - The successful bidder will be responsible for any customs duties and taxes (if applicable). - This item will be mailed by the postal service of Taiwan in the form of airmail with insurance attached.
