Byōbu-sermi - Paperi, Puu, Silkki, Kuusiosainen taittoaita, joka kuvaa kohtauksen Genji-tarusta kultahiekalla. - Japani - Meiji-kausi (loppupuolella 1800-lukua)
A Japanese six-panel folding screen painted on paper with pigments and gold dust, depicting a courtly scene inspired by the Genji Monogatari (The Tale of Genji).
The composition unfolds against a luminous gold ground animated by soft clouds, within which three aristocratic figures appear: a nobleman and a court lady, accompanied by a monk seated on the left. The figures wear richly decorated court garments, rendered with great attention to textile patterns and refined color harmonies.
The screen is finished with elegant silk borders and a wooden frame fitted with gilded metal corner mounts.
The screen can also be easily mounted on a wall or used as a room divider.
Byōbu (屏風), literally “wind protection screens,” are traditional Japanese folding screens originally created to divide spaces and today appreciated above all as striking wall-mounted paintings.
---The byobu is in very good condition, with minor wear and stains. Please refer to the pictures for further details.
The item will be carefully packed and shipped via DHL or FedEx, accompanied by the original certificate of authenticity issued by Mastromauro Japanese art gallery based in Milan, Italy.
