La Coulée de Serrant is in itself a registered appellation of only 7 hectares belonging entirely to the same domain of the Joly family. Located on very steep volcanic slopes, overlooking the Loire to the west of Angers, the vines from the chenin grape variety provide wood for new vines. The grape variety and terroir make this emblematic Savennières unique. Partly grown on horseback, or by hand, the average yield is 20/25 hectolitres per hectare (40 allowed). The 2019 will remain in the annals of the Coulée de Serrant: it is a chenin with a flamboyant strength and a noble vegetal note. It combines a unique bitter sensation with a reassuring sweetness and culminates in a wonderful yet robust finish, which will refine in the coming decades. Possessing a few grams of residual sugar, this makes it a very greedy vintage, honeyed, promised to a very nice storage!
