Duas Quintas 1994, produced by the prestigious Casa Ramos Pinto, is a landmark in the history of Douro wines, coming from a year considered to have perfect ripeness. “Elegant and balanced.” Duas Quintas Tinto is a wine from the Douro Superior, originating from Quinta de Ervamoira (150 meters altitude) and Quinta dos Bons Ares (600 meters altitude) and is made with traditional grape varieties that express the potential of this region. THE YEAR 1994 was an excellent year, with fantastic climatic conditions. The soil absorbed enough water after a rainy winter and spring. The hot summer followed by light showers in early September gave way to perfectly ripened grapes. VINIFICATION The selected grapes from Quinta de Ervamoira and Quinta dos Bons Ares fermented in stainless steel tanks, with a remontage system and temperature control. The maceration is short and the extraction is gentle. After malolactic fermentation is complete, 20% is aged in 2- and 3-year-old Portuguese oak barrels for 6 months. The wine spent two winters in the cellar and was bottled in the spring of 1996. GASTRONOMY Ideal with all types of meat and with lighter dishes such as pizza, pasta and vegetables.

THE YEAR
