Aquilón is a red wine from the Campo de Borja D.O. produced by Bodegas Alto Moncayo. This wine is a single-varietal Garnacha. The grapes used for Aquilón come from 30 hectares of the winery's own vineyards, which grow in stony soils very poor in organic matter. This results in a small yield, but in return, the grapes present a more concentrated expression of the terroir. Aquilón is made from old Garnacha vines that are between 60 and 100 years old. The vineyards are located on the slopes of Mount Moncayo. The winemaking and production processes are carried out according to traditional methods. To fully express the character of the Garnacha, Aquilón is aged for 24 months in the winery's finest oak barrels. This wine is produced under the technical direction of renowned Australian winemaker Chris Ringland. This is a project promoted by Jorge Ordóñez.
