"Minun metsikköni" Artwork realized in 2021 and published in a catalog, exhibited in 2022 at the prestigious Radium Artis Gallery as part of the exhibition "No Time No Space", curated by Alberto Navilli.
"Minun metsikköni" represents one of the most intense moments in Michael Peddio’s painting research. The composition is dominated by a vibrant verticality: incandescent red trunks emerge as organic and pulsating presences, immersed in a chromatic atmosphere charged with emotional tension. The red, central color in the artist’s poetics, is not decorative but structural: it becomes energy, conflict, primal vitality. The dark lines carve the surface like veins, while the acidic greens and deep glazes create a dramatic and dynamic contrast. The work belongs to the artist’s most intense expressionist phase, in which nature is not depicted, but reinterpreted as inner space. The painting material is alive, stratified, capable of capturing light and depth depending on the angle.
Catalog publication available. Work exhibited in an official curatorial context.
A piece that unites chromatic strength, recognizable stylistic identity, and a certified exhibition path.
Michael Peddio: My free expression is not confined by a preconceived idea, but conveyed through color and form as the sole instrument, a return to a primordial form of art. The absence of drawing is, for me, a prerogative of the indeterminacy of the work at its birth; as in life and especially in the times we live, there can be no certainty of outcome for any situation. My painting evolves from a white canvas to an unpredictable ending. For me there exists only the acceptance of art as an unpredictable and uncontrollable process.
Michael Peddio has taken his first steps since childhood, inspired by his father Riccardo, a painter. The turning point occurs around age 30, thanks to meeting master Teobaldo Cattini, a Reggio Macchiaioli painter, who opens the doors to painting. A great source of inspiration and strength from the former boxer painter. In 2012, meeting Barbara Nicoletto, his current partner, opens the doors to his second painting season and artistic maturity. Between 2013 and 2014 painting begins to take on an inner meaning. Figurative art begins to give way to introspection. Inner strength takes over and the canvas becomes a slit, with the passing of years, increasingly free of filters, increasingly free of reticence in showing his I. Strength and weaknesses are shown without shame. The man is naked, without masks.
In April 2016 he is noticed by critic Daniel Buso and, together with his partner Barbara Nicoletto, is exhibited in: Il Museo in Vetrina, Bipersonal at Museo CA’ DEI CARRARESI in Treviso, a very important location rarely granted to an emerging artist.
In 2018 Michael Peddio reaches painting maturity. His paintings are free from conditioning, expressing with harmony and beauty all the raw reality that the artist wants to be shown. We find strength and harmony. We also find positivity in tragedy. We find beauty.
Also since 2018 we see the artist collaborating with Galleria REART, opening to the art world and interacting with other artists on the national scene. We see him exhibiting and also curating exhibitions. He co-founded with Barbara Nicoletto and Giorgio Ferretti the Cromatisti movement. They meet in a Factory, a place of exchange and work.
In 2020 the meeting with Angela Lazzaretti, owner of Radium Artis Gallery, is a great source of national-level artistic dialogue for Michael Peddio. The Pietrasanta exhibition at Radium Artis Gallery was his debut in meaningful art at 46, giving him the visibility his works deserve.
In 2021 the meeting with critic and curator Alberto Navilli opens the way to a further evolutionary steep, seeing his art grow ever more on the path of increasingly crude and uncompromising estemporaneity.
