The instrument is in ready to play condition with no cracks, old good ebony set up, boxwood chin rest and Dominant strings. An old bridge made by Ealing strings. The violin has an excellent straight high grained spruce of the top and two pieces back of strongly flamed maple with matched sides and scroll. The purfling is professionally executed and the edges are masterfully done. The original varnish of golden brown reddish color remains in good condition. The whole length of the violin is 592 mm and the back 358 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 166 mm; middle bouts: 112 mm; lower bouts: 208 mm.
