Description:
A visually striking vintage silver gelatin print by Matti Saanio (1925–2006). Shot in 1958 in the village of Oikarainen (Rovaniemi region, Lapland), this photograph is a rare and experimental piece from Saanio's legendary North-Finland period.
Unlike traditional static portraits, Saanio uses a long exposure to capture the motion of a woman in a rocking chair by a traditional fireplace. This technique adds a ghostly, poetic layer to his otherwise documentary style, making it a highly desirable piece for art photography collectors.
