FLAMIDOR "Lift-Arm" Semi-Automatic Table Lighter - 1930s
Brand: Flamidor (France)
Manufacturer Case: BBR (Brun, Buisson & Renard)
Period: 1930s (Interwar Period / Art Deco)
Fuel: Gasoline
Condition: 100% Mechanically Functional (does not contain gasoline for safety reasons).
Mode of Operation and Mechanism
Semi-automatic System: Ignition is done by simply pressing the metal side clip/button.
Full Cycle: When pressed, the internal spring instantly releases the upper arm (lift-arm). It automatically rises, opens the wick cover and simultaneously rotates the toothed wheel over the stone, generating the spark.
Mechanical Condition: The spring is strong, not deformed, and the mechanism does not catch or block. The ignition toothed wheel is in good condition and produces a firm spark with each trigger.
Fuel and Adjustment System (Specific to this model)
Geared wheel base: The model is equipped with a large, peripheral, side-visible gear wheel at the base, which allows easy opening or adjustment of the lower compartment without the need for special tools.
Simple maintenance: Fuel filling and flint replacement are quickly carried out through the lower deck of the lighter.
Authenticity Marks (Stamped on the base)
FLAMIDOR / MARQUE DÉPOSÉE (Registered Brand)
S.G.D.G. PATENTS (French interwar patent)
UNIS FRANCE in oval with the initials BBR (French production certification)
Graphic logo left: Rugby ball (Official logo of the BBR foundry)
Aesthetic Condition and Finish Details
Solid body in treated metal, with original mirror finish on the wide sides. It has an authentic patina and fine surface scratches, typical of its age (no dents, bumps or cracks in the metal).
Curved, ergonomic shape, with excellent stability on the desk due to its weight and wide base
