Unknown - Quran Leaf - 1575

A Magnificent manuscript page from a Safavid Quran dated 1575, written in bold naskh script with verse markers in burnished gold and red diacritical markings throughout.

The text presents Surah Ibrahim (chapter 14) v.40-47. This passage carries weight for the believer: beginning with Ibrahim's supplication - "Our Lord, forgive me, my parents and the believers on the Day of Reckoning", it unfolds into a solemn divine warning that on the Day of Judgement, that the wrongdoers shall stand with their heads raised in dread, and the earth being transformed into something entirely other. All shall stand before Allah, the One, the Irresistible to be held accountable.

Two beautifully illuminated cobalt and gold rosettes adorn the margins, marking out verses 40 and 45, acting as guides to the reader.
