Lavapiésin muotokuvat / 2015 The starting point of this show was about a contemporary representation of “Le radeau de la Méduse” painted in 1819 by Géricault, which is the scene of the sinking of the frigate La Méduse off the coast of Mauritania, sent by France to reach the port of Saint Louis in Senegal. Scenes of shipwrecks, we have almost daily in our newspapers. I first thought that meeting people who have lived this odyssey would be the best way to compile a set of story. I live in the district of Lavapiès in Madrid for about ten years where I met migrant people who were willing to join my approach. But the confidence of a traumatic journey is not so easy to tell, and I finally realized a series of portraits as a first approach. The project ended with an exhibition in Madrid of about twenty acrylics and oils large portraits. Part of the show went also to Tetouan and Tangier.
