Ilmaisu « Acte de Francisation des Bâtiments du Commerce Français au nom du Peuple Français » tarkoittaa virallista asiakirjaa, joka todistaa, että alus on saanut purjehtia Ranskan lipun alla.

Historiallisesti francisointitoimitus myönnettiin Ranskan viranomaisten toimesta seuraavasti:
- tunnistaa aluksen ranskalaisen kansallisuuden ('franciser' laivan)
- sallia sen pitää yllä Ranskan lippua;
- antaa tunnistaa sen omistaja, kantavuus ja sen tärkeimmät ominaisuudet;
- antaa sille oikeus nauttia Ranskan laivoihin liittyvistä oikeuksista ja suojista.

Ilmaisumuoto « au nom du Peuple Français » on tasavallan ilmaisumuoto, jota käytetään monilla hallinnollisilla ja virallisilla asiakirjoilla.
