Vintage Showa Japanese Plastic Jubako-Style Four-Tier Box – Gold Floral Design
Shipping method: DHL Express
A decorative Japanese four-tier stacking box with display stand, dating from the Showa period, approximately the 1960s–1980s.
The set is made of lightweight synthetic resin/plastic and is designed in the style of traditional Japanese lacquerware. The black exterior is richly decorated with intricate gold-tone floral and scrolling arabesque patterns. Large peony-like flowers are arranged across the front of the individual tiers, creating an elegant and highly decorative appearance.
The four individual compartments can be separated and used independently, while the uppermost tier is fitted with a matching decorated lid. The interiors of the stacking compartments are finished in black.
The accompanying square stand features matching gold-tone decoration and a striking vermilion-red upper surface. Decorative openwork cut-outs on the sides add visual interest and give the entire set an architectural appearance when assembled.
Although inspired by traditional Japanese jubako stacking boxes and lacquerware, this example is made of synthetic resin/plastic rather than traditional urushi lacquer.
A charming piece of Showa-period Japanese decorative design, suitable for use as a small-item organizer, accessory box, display box, or decorative interior object.
