Tekoälyavusteinen yhteenveto

Myyjän antama kuvaus

● Alkuperäinen Mixed Media -taideteos. Uniikkierä. Kolaski printed on canvas and Individually hand-finished with a red squeezer marker and spray paint. The artwork receives a final protective matte varnish and is presented in a vintage solid wood frame with a gold finish. Dimensions: 47 x 42 cm. and 4 cm. depth, with a 7 cm. wide frame.

The artwork combines a contemporary digital collage with a physical artistic intervention, transforming the printed canvas into a unique mixed-media composition and individually finished by hand, while the final matte varnish provides a protective layer, reduces reflections and helps preserve the surface of the artwork over time. The vintage frame forms an integral part of the composition, reinforcing the dialogue between artistic tradition and contemporary urban expression.

As an original vintage frame, it retains very subtle signs of age and minor imperfections in some corners, barely perceptible and only noticeable upon close inspection, consistent with its vintage character and history.
The artwork is individually signed on the reverse and accompanied by a physical certificate of authenticity.

“THUGS” reinterprets Raphael’s celebrated The School of Athens, one of the great masterpieces of the Italian Renaissance, introducing the iconic characters of Reservoir Dogs, the cult film directed by Quentin Tarantino, into its architectural setting. The contrast between the philosophers and thinkers of the original composition and the six black-suited criminals creates an unexpected encounter between art history and contemporary cinematic imagery.

The intervention transforms Tarantino’s characters into a kind of new contemporary “school”, replacing the philosophical debate of the Renaissance with the iconography of crime, cinema and popular culture.
Through this mash-up between Raphael, Tarantino, digital collage and graffiti, the artwork explores the dialogue between high culture and pop culture, questioning traditional hierarchies between classical art, cinema, visual appropriation and urban language.

● About the Artist
Nando López (Barcelona) is the founder of Dikhotomy, an artistic project dedicated to exploring how images change meaning when they are relocated into new cultural contexts.

His work establishes connections between historical iconography, popular culture, everyday objects and visual memory, creating artworks that move between irony, visual appropriation and contemporary reinterpretation.

Through limited-edition prints, paintings, assemblages and object-based installations, he develops a visual universe in which the familiar appears altered, encouraging new perspectives on consumption, desire, identity and pop culture.

His work has been exhibited internationally and is also featured through various concept stores in Spain, France, Belgium and Norway. Among his recognitions are a solo exhibition at Gamla Kraftstationen Gallery (Sweden) and the publication of his illustration I Am Jesus as the cover image of Newsweek Polska in May 2024.
