Myyjän antama kuvaus
A highly decorative French mantel clock signed Rolsen Paris, with movement number 4374.
The clock has an elaborate architectural and figural case, richly decorated with gilt ornamental elements, foliage, scrolls and musical motifs. Beside the clock stands a finely modelled Renaissance-style male figure holding a polearm and banner. The combination of the darker patinated figure with the gilded decoration and white stone base gives the clock a particularly attractive appearance.
The white stone elements appear to be alabaster or marble, while the decorative mounts and figure are made of cast metal with gilt and patinated finishes.
The dial is marked Rolsen and has Arabic numerals and two winding holes. The mechanical movement is also stamped ROLSEN PARIS and numbered 4374.
The clock is in good overall condition for its age, with no significant damage visible. The decorative elements appear complete and the clock retains a very attractive aged surface and patina.
The mechanical movement is functioning and both mainsprings are intact. It has been tested and runs, but, as with any vintage mechanical clock, I cannot guarantee its accuracy or continued operation after transport. Adjustment may be required after delivery.
The clock appears to be largely original. The only element about which I have some reservations is the pair of hands, which may possibly be later replacements.
Dimensions: approximately 39 × 29 × 14 cm
Weight: approximately 3.5 kg
Movement number: 4374
Marked: Rolsen Paris
Origin: France
Period: early 20th century, executed in an earlier French historicist style
A very decorative French mantel clock and an attractive display piece, particularly suitable for a classical or eclectic interior.
