A. Torres (XX) - Calla Lilies & Apples Still Life

Charmant signed still-life painting by A. Torres, depicting an elegant arrangement of white calla lilies in a transparent glass vase accompanied by three brightly coloured apples.

The composition is dominated by the sculptural forms of the white calla lilies, whose sweeping petals contrast beautifully with the deep green foliage and vivid turquoise-blue drapery in the background. Three apples in warm shades of yellow, green and red anchor the foreground and introduce a lively complementary colour palette.

The artist has used clearly visible, expressive brushwork, particularly across the flowers, foliage and fruit, giving the painted surface a pleasing sense of texture and depth. The transparent vase provides an additional technical element, with the overlapping green stems visible through the glass.

The painting is signed “A. Torres” at the lower right.

It is presented in an attractive ornamental gilt frame, whose traditional scrolling decoration complements the colourful floral subject particularly well.
