Gabriele Mandel - Tarot-kortit - Tarocchi dei Visconti - set completo

Italian original edition of 1974 of The Visconti Tarot of Gabriele Mandel, published by Monumenta Longobardica, Bergamo, and printed by Litoberg S.r.l.

The lot includes the complete 78-card deck, Mandel's original illustrated volume, and the distinctive hard editorial slipcase in book form, with brown cover and gold-impressed titles.

The cards reproduce the iconography of the famous Visconti Tarot, tied to the Italian XVth-century tradition, with figures and decorations inspired by the great Renaissance deck. The volume introduces the history of the tarot, illustrates the Major Arcana and describes different methods of interpretation and arrangement of the cards.

Particularly interesting is the conservation state of the deck: some cards still retain the transparent protective film, while others have been opened and photographed to document their illustrations.

The dating is certain and directly documented in the volume by the inscription “Copyright 1974 Monumenta Longobardica – Bergamo – Printed in Italy”.

Complete set and now fifty-years old, interesting for collectors of historical tarot cards, playing cards, esotericism and medieval and Renaissance iconography.

The slipcase shows normal signs of age and use, clearly visible in the photographs, which form an integral part of the description.
