The object is not signed, but it comes with a certificate that is signed and numbered.
The "Donut" originates from a series of color-differing sculptures on the same theme and was published in collaboration with Artikel Editions, Berlin.
Peter Smith, born 1941 in the United States, is among the most remarkable sculptors of his generation. Already at a young age he and his family moved to southern Germany, where he discovered his passion for art and especially sculpture.
After training at the renowned Academy of Fine Arts Munich, Smith developed a unique style that combines traditional techniques with modern elements. His works, often made of ceramic, wood or metal, reflect a deep engagement with everyday, mundane things.
During his career, Peter Smith presented his works in numerous international exhibitions from Paris to New York. To this day the 84-year-old lives and works in his self-proclaimed "workshop" in southern Germany.
