The Christmas Edition of Big Peat is missed! The last release was in 2023 and in 2025 there was indeed a successor from Douglas Laing, but that was the Winter Edition. Specifically for all Big Peat fans, we bring back the Christmas Edition one time to the Netherlands in the form of the Big Peat The Christmas Edition Specially Selected for the Dutch Emporium Stores
The well-known Islay blended malt bottled by the independent bottler Douglas Laing, but this Christmas Edition is specially bottled for the four Dutch Douglas Laing Emporium flagship stores and icons from their town are also visible on the label. In our case the water tower in Stadskanaal and Bruitje Beer in Musselkanaal (top right). This Big Peat has matured in refill casks followed by a sherry finish and is bottled in 2026 at cask strength of 54.6%, non chill filtered and without added coloring, as a limited single cask release of only 300 bottles.
Below are the tasting notes. This Big Peat release is from today, while stocks last, available here on Dramtime.nl and of course in our store. Additionally, there are also 6cl samples available.
Tasting notes:
Sweet smoke with maritime influences, campfire, salt, ash, soot, a hint of vanilla and a warm finish with aromas of herbs and peat.
