Kuvakirja huutokauppa

Fotografie by Jaromír Funke, julkaistu kuolemansa jälkeen tšekkiläisen Odeon-kustantamon toimesta vuonna 1970, on erittäin arvostettu klassikkovalokuvakirja, joka juhlistaa yhtä kansainvälisen avantgarden valokuvauksen merkittävimmistä edelläkävijöistä."

Fotografie by Jaromír Funke, published posthumously by the Czech publisher Odeon in 1970, is a highly acclaimed, classic photobook celebrating one of the most prominent pioneers of international avant-garde photography.

Jaromír Funke (1896–1945), a leading theorist, teacher, and modern Czechoslovak photographer who helped develop the movement known as "Photogenism".

The first edition is an octavo-sized book bound in a stamped cream/white cloth hardcover. It is renowned for its premium print quality, featuring 131 or 132 rich, velvety photogravure plates that meticulously reproduce Funke's imagery with exceptional depth.
The book acts as a comprehensive retrospective of Funke's career spanning between the First and Second World Wars. It documents his progression through various modern art movements, including Abstract Photography, Cubism, New Objectivity, Constructivism, and Surrealism.

The imagery inside captures the essence of the European interwar avant-garde. You will find: Dramatic arrangements of glass objects, mirrors, and ordinary household items that explore shadow, light, and geometry; Crisp, tight close-ups emphasizing the texture and structural composition of surfaces and architecture; Funke's later transition into "emotional photography" and imaginative, surreal juxtapositions from the 1930s.

Because of its limited initial run and high-quality photogravures, the 1970 Odeon monograph is a highly sought-after collector's item in the world of photography.
