Viking era, silver alloy openwork strap amulet showing two stylised Fafnir Dragons. The amulet is wire-wrapped on a modern leather jewellery cord.
Size: ± 26,8 x 18,3 mm
Condition: good solid condition, wearable on modern jewellery cord. Signs of wear consistent with age and use.

In Norse mythology Fafnir was the son of the dwarf king Hreidmar and was slain by Sigurd. In Norse culture Fafnir was a symbol of strength and greed. The fateful story of Fafnir was a warning against the chaotic and destructive powers of greed.
