Many plants received their first publication on the pages, and the description given was enhanced by the keenly detailed illustrations. William Bertram Turrill (1890 – 1961) was an English botanist. He worked in the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew and was responsible for many innovations including a mathematical classification of leaf shapes. Great Flower Books, 2; Hunt, 184; Nissen BBI, 2350; Stafleu and Cowan, 1290. ** This lot is part of an important collection that will be auctioned in the coming months through the Catawiki Collection Service.
