Gravity is a unique vessel crafted by Atelier Colby, a shallow bowl with an exaggerated elliptical rim. The bowl has been wet molded in 3mm natural vegetable tanned leather from Tuscany. It has been hand shaped and reinforced; saddle stitched by hand with waxed polycotton thread for strength and longevity; trimmed by knife, sanded, burnished and waxed. The inside of the bowl can be sealed so it may be used to hold objects or fruit. The leather is tanned using water and natural organic materials like mimosa and chestnut bark. It is one of the most sustainable tanning techniques and creates a leather that responds to its environment over time, developing a distinct patina from where it is placed and how it is handled.
