Rare Antique Russian Icon of the Trinity 19th century Comprising an interesting and complex icon, the upper margin inscribed in Old Church Slavonic, "Image of Three-hypostatic Godhood, Father, Son, Holy Ghost," and at top center an angel holds a scroll inscribed, "Selaphiel, supplicant to God always for mankind," below a celestial circle depicting the New Testament trinity and each corner the symbols of the Four Evangelists, together with additional archangels, the Mother of God, and John the Forerunner. In the lower center, within a circular reserve is inscribed, "Co-beginningless Father and Co-beginningless Son and Co-beginningless Spirit -like cherubim, glorify the Three Persons, saying, ‘Holy, Holy, Holy.'
