About the author:
Ernst Müller-Göls (October 7, 1902 – May 8, 2001) was a prominent Swiss painter, draftsman, and lithographer, best known for his landscape, portrait, and still life works. Born in Zurich and originating from Boltigen in the canton of Bern, he studied at the School of Arts and Crafts in Zurich from 1917 to 1921 and continued his studies at the Academy of Munich. Until 1924, he furthered his education at the Dresden Academy. During this time, he undertook extensive study travels throughout Germany, as well as stays in Munich, Florence, Milan, and Paris, which significantly influenced his artistic expression.
Müller-Göls worked across various media, including oil painting, drawing, and lithography. His stylistic hallmark was a lightly impasto painting technique, through which he depicted landscapes, portraits, and still life subjects. He was a member of several Swiss art associations, including the Society of Swiss Painters, Sculptors, and Architects, as well as the Zurich Artists' Association. His life and work were primarily rooted in Zurich.
