Maria Sewcz - Inter Esse (MINT CONDITION, SHRINK-WRAPPED) - 2014

NO ONE PHOTOGRAPHED EAST BERLIN AS RADICALLY AS SHE DID - German photographer and artist Maria Sewcz, born in 1960 in Schwerin (East Germany), student of Arno Fischer and Timm Rautert. GREAT OPPORTUNITY to purchase her longtime sold-out, great photobook about Berlin from 2014 - in BRANDNEW CONDITION. "inter esse" is a Berlin narrative in which more recent German history is inscribed. It takes shape through dynamic movements, in a constant shift of perspectives, and with no interest whatsoever in subordinating individual perception to so-called historical necessities." (Steidl, the publisher) Mint, new, unread; still originally shrink-wrapped in publisher`s plastic foil. COLLECTOR'S COPY. THIS IS THE VERY FIRST PHOTOBOOK AUCTION ON CATAWIKI - dedicated entirely to the world of the former "DDR"/"GDR" ("GERMAN DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC" or "EAST GERMANY") which existed from 1949 to 1990. Still largely undiscovered and unexplored, this field offers a wealth of fascinating discoveries for collectors. 5Uhr30.com presents exceptional works by renowned and emerging artists, survey works, compelling monographs, as well as extraordinarily rare small vintage catalogues, vintage children’s books and vintage factory photobooks; signed publications, posters, and much more. "Pariser Platz, the town hall, Alexanderplatz, the Thälmann Monument, and the border trace the topography. These are quick, precise glances that burrow into the gaps between them, into obstructed views: fragments and diagonals, hard looks, black against white and a gray free of picturesque poetry. These images, created in 1987, express a cold, implacable fury. The young photographer Maria Sewcz renounced the commitment to the visible that had shaped the photographic consensus: that every image ends at its edges. That there is one shared perceptual space in which everything and everyone participates. That moments are decisive." (from the publisher) Like always we guarantee detailed and accurate descriptions, 100% transport protection, 100% transport insurance, and of course, combined shipping - worldwide. MAKE SURE YOU DON'T MISS THIS UNIQUE CHANCE! Brought to you exclusively by 5Uhr30.com, Cologne, Germany. Steidl, Göttingen. 2014. First edition, first printing. Linen without dustjacket (as issued). 295 x 236 mm. 80 pages. Photos: Maria Sewcz. Text in English. Wonderful photobook by Maria Sewcz about East Berlin - in perfect condition. "Maria Sewcz lives and works in Berlin. From 1982 to 1987 she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Leipzig (Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst) under Professor Arno Fischer, completing her diploma. She later became a master student of Timm Rautert there between 1993 and 1995. After her studies, she received several grants and artist residencies that supported her artistic work. In 1994, Sewcz was awarded the DG BANK grant for artistic photography in Frankfurt am Main. In addition, she received the Villa Massimo scholarship in 2011, which enabled her to spend time in Rome. This was followed by teaching positions, first in Braunschweig from 2005 to 2007 at the University of Fine Arts (Hochschule für Bildende Künste). Since 2017, Maria Sewcz has been teaching at the Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie in Berlin. Much of Maria Sewcz’s work reflects her engagement with cities, with a particular focus on Berlin. “I see myself as a chronicler of Berlin […] For Berlin, of course, I have a different approach because it is the center of my life. I have been following its development since the 1980s.” (Wikipedia)
