ABOUT US: At Supein Nihonto we strive to bring you high quality samurai swords and armors at prices far below the competition. This is especially important to save on taxes and waiting times that can exceed four months deliveries with Japanese sellers also headaches with tedious and sometimes problematic processes that further lengthen deliveries, even returning the parcel to its origin and more than 35% extra on the final price due the customs, tariffs and fees that increase the product but not the quality and the future resell. We are also professional sellers and therefore our satisfaction guarantee, knowledge and standards are superior to private sellers and with higher after sales guarantees. Thanks to this and the lowest professional prices in the industry plus our fast and efficient shipping method which rarely exceeds three days delivery in Europe, we are sure you will enjoy this great opportunity to own a piece of art that will appreciate in value for years to come and a great investment. Trust us to enjoy the samurai art. ITEM DESCRIPTION: This remarkable zunari kabuto (head-shaped helmet) from the Edo period is crafted from forged iron in a three-plate construction typical of the type. The central and side plates are neatly riveted together, forming a smooth, rounded bowl that echoes the natural shape of the human head —a hallmark of the zunari design. Originally designed for battlefield practicality, this example transcends its utilitarian origins through the addition of an impressive circular iron maedate evoking the rising sun, and a pair of large gilt wakidate shaped as elongated horns. These imposing ornaments, symbols of divine power and command, transform the helmet into a statement piece of martial prestige. The shikoro (neck guard) is composed of multiple iron plates laced with yellow odoshi cords, finished in dark brown urushi lacquer that remains beautifully preserved. The fukigaeshi side flaps exhibit delicate golden texture work, while the interior retains its original patina and early lining traces, confirming its authenticity and Edo-period craftsmanship. The interplay between the sober iron and the gilded ornaments achieves a striking visual harmony —balancing the functional elegance of the zunari form with the grandeur of daimyo aesthetics. An exceptional example of Edo-period armor artistry, embodying the samurai virtues of discipline, resilience, and spiritual strength. All bids are binding, if you are not interested don't let other bidders miss the opportunity. Please note that the item may have been restored or have seen part changed during its life. Winning the auction and not paying for the item blocks you from bidding on catawiki on any auction forever, keep this in mind before bidding.
