"Gerard Wessel Herman Brood", a photo book by Dutch photographer Gerard Wessel about the famous Dutch rock musician and artist. Condition: the book is in very good condition, interior clean, unmarked, no stains, no foxing. Outside very good as well with only very little signs of handling and very minor losening of the foil on the cardboard cover on the top and bottom right corners of the cover. Overall excellent condition for a 35 year old title. After studying photography and photonics in The Hague, Wessel started his career as a staff photographer for the leading magazine Nieuwe Revu. Currently active in portrait photography for various leading magazines, Wessel continues to be a street photographer and published a collection of street snap works in Amsterdam in 2016. And this book is a collection of works with the motif of the legendary Dutch rock star Herman Brood, who made the name of Wessel famous. The only rock'n'roll star born in the Netherlands in the 20th century, synonymous with "sex, drug & rock'n'roll". In the latter half of his career, he turned into a painter and made a name for himself as a standard-bearer of colorful pop art, but he committed suicide at the age of 54. This is a book that condenses the strong personality of Brood.
